Conflict Management
Conflict may arise between people and groups with opposing needs, ideas, beliefs and goals. Conflict in teams is inevitable, however the outcome of a conflict is not predetermined. Conflicts might escalate, become personal and destructive and lead to non-productive results, or they can be beneficially resolved, stimulate competition and lead to higher quality. Therefore learning to manage conflicts early, honestly and by following the right procedure is integral to a high performance team. Conflict management involves the ability to diagnose the elements and types of conflicts correctly, developing self-awareness, conflict communication skills and establishing a structure for managing a conflict.
